I had so much fun in Bible classes last Monday, asking your kids how many ways they knew to get into trouble! They started volunteering their methods, but I stopped them and said, “I just want a number.” I know, missed opportunity. That would be such useful information for me to pass along to you. Their answers ranged from 6 to 6,000. The reason I asked was because we were about to read Psalm 107. I gave it the title, “4 ways into trouble, 1 way out.”

Here’s the upshot. The Psalm has 4 scenarios with different ways that people got into trouble: by accident, on purpose, by being stupid, and just while doing what they were supposed to be doing. You ought to ask the kids about that and what they got out of it. I just want to draw your attention to the one way out that “worked” for all of those situations and still “works” today. You’ll find it in verses 6, 13, 19, and 28: “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.”

Remember that, however any of us find our way into trouble, He is ready to hear us cry out, and He will deliver!
